Why Has Trf Become \'invisible Enemy\' For Security Forces In Kashmir

What has caused TRF transformed into an invisible enemy to security personnel in Kashmir

New Delhi, Aug 19 : The Resistance Front (TRF) has, over the past three years, become the unnoticed enemy that makes threats to security men and political activists, police informers, and the so-called “collaborators of the Indian state in Kashmir’.
The police recently reported that the TRF terrorist named Aadil Ahmad Wani committed the brutal murder of the local Kashmiri Pandit, Sunil Kumar in his village of origin, Chotigam of Shopian district.

The family members of Aadil were detained while his house was taken over to police. In a video clip posted on social media, Aadil Ahmad Wani denied involvement in Sunil Kumar’s assassination , saying that he is not part of the TRF and is an active member of the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Police have stated that they have irrefutable evidence of Aadil Ahmad Wani killed Sunil Kumar.Yet, in his efforts to defend his innocence, Aadil had stated a half truth.

He was not a member of the TRF because in order for the TRF to claim responsibility for terrorist actions, one does not necessarily have to be a member of the TRF.

“The invisible adversary which the TRF has evolved into owes its existence in large part to the fact that this organization was formed to be responsible for terrorist acts across the board.

“Any terror group that is carrying an act of terror is hidden from the view of the security forces due to the fact that their activities are controlled by the TRF,” said a senior intelligence officer and added that this does not mean the TRF is merely paper-based group.

“The massive presence claimed by the TRF is an elaborate psychological scheme to provide protection to active terrorists of other organizations to carry out their activities on the ground.

“Say for instance, that the murder committed by Aadil Ahmad Wani was financed by the TRF while Aadil claimed he was part of the Hizbul. If the bluff was successful we would be searching for the killers of Sunil Kumar in locations apart from Shopian in which the TRF has only a small presence on the land,” the officer said.

“A local militant who took refuge in the media for a short time, was closely in charge of the actions of the TRF and was in the process of identifying targets for terrorists.

“When his cover was destroyed, he flew to Pakistan via Turkey. We have people similar to his that are on our radar in Srinagar and other places and are spotted when they put their necks out.” an intelligence officer said.

The main function of the TRF according to sources of intelligence is to find youth who do not have any history of affiliation with any terrorist group.

“These young people are often enticed by radical indoctrination or for financial benefits.

“They get a gun, usually an assault weapon, and are tasked to kill targets and then are asked to dispose of their weapon in order to disappear in the crowd” told the officer.

The main problem that the TRF for security forces comes thus in the form of an invisible enemy who provides cover for terrorists of other groups, by taking the terrorists’ actions and, secondly, to lure young people with no history of violence to commit targeted killings.

So does the TRF a multi-headed dragon whose heads serve mostly camouflaged for other groups?

The most high-ranking officers of the security forces as well as the intelligence agencies believe that the TRF is real and also virtual, which makes it an invisible enemy.
