Los Angeles, Aug 16 : The fans of the horror series “Saw” have a reason for celebration.A new ‘Saw’ film is scheduled to debut in theaters in the coming year.The 10th movie in the series has been set for its release date for September 27, 2023.according to “Variety”.
The film will be produced jointly by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures.
According to ‘Variety’ it is being directed by Kevin Greutert, who helmed “Saw VI” and “Saw The Final Chapter’ as well as acting as editor of the first five episodes and the film ‘Jigsaw’.
Greutert is a fan favorite of the franchise with numerous people praising his abilities in his two films.Apart from the ‘Saw’ movies Greutert has also directed the feature films “Jessabelle” with Sarah Snook and ‘Visions’ with Isla Fisher.
“Variety” further says that the plot of the upcoming film is currently being kept under secret however, the studio has promised the film will take the fans’ “hearts, and other body parts, with all-new twisted, clever traps and a brand new problem to be solved”.
Producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules stated in an announcement made available to Variety: “We have been listening to what people have been asking us for and are currently creating a film that Saw enthusiasts and horror fans alike will enjoy.
“And part of that is handing over the reigns to Kevin Greutert, director of “Saw VI,” which is one of the most popular choices of fans in the whole series.The details of the project will be announced soon.”
The series of movies ‘Saw which debuted in 2004 has brought in healthy box office earnings.
The sequel film, starring Donnie Wahlberg, was the most profitable installment, raking in more than $147 million worldwide.
