Police are on high alert in TN in the course of Independence Day celebrations

Chennai 15th August : Tamil Nadu Police have increased security in all districts of the state in the Independence Day celebrations on Monday.A large police presence was observed in Chennai MGR Central Railway Station, Chennai International Airport, Metro stations Medical college hospitals and a special increase of security measures was in places at the Koodankulam Nuclear power plant.
People in the state police said to IANS that although it was normal to ramp security during Independence Day and Republic Day the unprecedented security came from information from the central intelligence agencies.

The recent detention of an IS Indian module from Tiruchi district and his revelations about the lone-wolf attack that targeted certain establishments have resulted in an increasing in the security system throughout the state.

Islamic groups, like the Popular Front were under the supervision of security authorities in the state.with the nation celebrating its Independence Day, the agencies do not want to take any risk.

An officer of the highest rank with the Police Headquarters in an interview with IANS told IANS “There are three main reasons behind this extraordinary security.One of them is routine for the Independence Day celebrations.

However, some Islamic international organizations were planning some shady plots and we uncovered the plot with the detention of an engineer aged 24 recently.Thirdly The Sri Lankan angle and possibilities of certain criminals causing problems to draw attention.”

The top officer added that the department was specifically in response to intelligence inputs from central agencies.

Following the announcement of the Prime Minister of Har Ghar Thiranga the country is experiencing a great interest in raising the flag of the nation at the home and in several cities throughout the state, many people have lowered the flag of the nation at their homes and flat complexes .

K.Kavitha, an engineer with a software company in an interview with IANS told IANS, “We used to enjoy the holiday on August 15 but this year, the atmosphere has changed.

In my colony of residence at T Nagar, Chennai it’s similar to Pongal and Deepavali.I am sure that from next year onwards , it will be a major celebration and festival, and a moment of pride for everyone of us.” She stated that teachers should provide at least an hour of extra classes to students about the freedom fighters and the hardships they made in order to end the imperialistic regime in the country.
