Tehran 15 August : A member of the Iranian panel of parliamentarians has stated that the talks for reviving the nuclear agreement of 2015 should result in the lifting of US sanctions in order to protect the interests of Iran’s economy.Abolfazl Amoui, the spokesman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee made the remarks following an ensuing committee meeting to review the latest round of the nuclear talks in Vienna, Xinhua news agency reported using the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA).
The sanctions must be lifted in an effort to help the Iranian people and permit the country’s business and trade professionals to conduct business with foreign nations, he said, adding the Iranian government is required to submit a report on sanctions elimination to the legislature to be reviewed.
The parliament will examine the draft text currently being debated in the Vienna talks, Amoui said.
The European Union has recently put forth an “final version” of the draft decision regarding the renewal of the nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) waiting for the political decisions of the other players in the Vienna talks.
Iran has signed the JCPOA with world powers in July 2015, committing to halt its nuclear programme in exchange for the elimination of sanctions against the country.However the the former U.S.President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the agreement and imposed sanctions unilaterally on Tehran which prompted Tehran to renounce some of its obligations in the pact.
