AIADMK Leader CVe Shanmugham is announcing Madras HC for CBI probe into party’s office incident

Chennai 11 Aug : AIADMK leader and Member of Parliament CVe Shanmugham filed a petition with the Madras High Court requesting a CBI investigation into the robbing of the party’s office on July 11 which was the day of the General Council meeting of the party.
Madras High Court on Thursday granted notification to the Greater Chennai Police on the plea of the former law ministry.

Shanmugham is, in his petition, declared that the party closely associated with O.Panneerselvam had ransacked the office of the party on the 11th of July and that important documents were snatched from the office during the incident.

Justice N.Satish Kumar of the Madras High court gave time until August 25 for the Additional Public Prosecutor E.Tilakraj to obtain the police’s response to the notice.

Shanmugham in his appeal stated that AIADMK was established in 1972 and was in the position for 32 out of its fifty years in existence.

The petitioner claimed that the former Chief Minister and coordinator of AIADMK, O.Panneerselvam had approached the court to challenge the conduct of the general council meeting in fear that certain of the decisions in the general council could be against him.

A single bench rejected his appeal at 9 a.m.and shortly around 9.15 a.m.The general council meeting of the party started in an auditorium in Vangaram located on the fringes of Chennai.CVe Shanmugham in his petition stated that just minutes prior to the announcement of the decision, O.Panneerselvam reached the AIADMK headquarters with the party’s supporters.They took over the office.

The petitioner claimed that supporters of the former Chief Minister had smashed the doors to gain entry into the office and looted various documents including bank passbooks as well as registration documents of 37 vehicles belonging to the party.

He stated that small cash of Rs 31,000 was stolen from the office, and the mob destroyed two vehicles in the office.

CVe Shanmugham in his petition stated that the office had been closed by the Revenue Divisional officer in pursuant to the violence.

He also said that he was permitted access to the party office only after RDOs orders were overturned by the court.

He stated that he had filed a complaint with the local police, citing all the incidents , but an FIR wasn’t filed against those who committed the acts of violence and looting.

He informed the court he had filed the complaint on the 23rd of July, but that the police had not registered an FIR, despite the fact that an FIR could result in actions under a cognizable crime.

The former Tamil Nadu law minister said that the police didn’t even bother to investigate the party’s office which was sacked.

He also said the state police favor O.Panneerselvam.therefore he requested to conduct a CBI inquiry into the incident.
