Thiruvananthapuram 10 August : The CBI on Wednesday was hit with an unintended setback after the POCSO judge in Palakkad dismissed its charges in the Walayar sisters case. The case came to light in January 2017 when the body of a girl aged 11 was discovered by her sister, nine years old in their home close to Walayar.
Then, two months later in identical circumstances, the girl was discovered deceased in her residence.
Although the Kerala police had arrested five persons on charges of aiding suicide as well as rape they were released by an appeals tribunal in Palakkad district due to the absence of evidence.
After the mother’s persistence following the Kerala police were unable to solve the case she could obtain an CBI investigation, but when it ended exactly the same as the Kerala police, she approached the POCSO court and was granted an additional order.
“I hope a different team would be in charge of the investigation again and we are absolutely certain this is a investigation of murder.
We all hope the truth would be revealed,” said the mother.
