Los Angeles, Aug 10 : The Television Academy has finally chosen an host for the upcoming Emmy Awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on the 12th of September at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California. “Saturday Night Live” actor Kenan Thompson will host the ceremony, according to “Variety”.
Thompson Thompson, who is the longest-running member of the cast in the history of ‘SNL’, was named after a long search by the television network NBC and the Academy and Emmys producers Done+Dusted as well as Reggie Hudlin to find an A-list name that could change the game.
According to ‘Variety’, the telecast will be broadcast live on NBC and also it will stream live through Peacock in addition.”Being being a part of this extraordinary evening in which we honor the very most amazing of the television industry is truly thrilling and to be doing it on NBC which is my beloved network family extra special,” Thompson said in an interview with “Variety”.”Like the majority of TV viewers I am eager to meet the stars of my most loved shows.”
“Kenan is widely regarded as one of the most entertaining, popular and skilled performers of the past two decades, and his time on “Saturday Night Live” is proof enough,” said Jen Neal executive vice president of Live Events for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “We believe he’ll bring enthusiasm and professionality to the Emmy Awards that a show of this magnitude deserves.”
