Amit Patkar claimed that the common man was suffering from the effects of inflation.”Government has been trying to silence the voices of citizens, and that is why we protest,” Patkar said, as he was taken into a police car.

Beena Naik said that BJP is trying to silence the voices of people.”Is this a democracy?” she questioned, speaking to reporters from a police car.

In a press conference, Congress’ Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said, “You (BJP) promised Acchhe Din.You were elected for a second time however, there are people suffering.GST has been raised on everyday products,” Ferreira said.

He stated that Congress during its decision-making did not suppress the voices of people, but instead after hearing about them, they rolled back decisions.”Now when you speak up and speak out, you are surrounded by the ED and CBI are behind you. This is how you are intimidated into silence. This is not a democratic system,” He said.

“People are scared to speak out, as they know that if they speak up, they’ll be scolded,” Ferreira said.
