The 26th death anniversary of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, founder of the Telugu Desam Party, former Chief Minister and founder of the Basavatarakam Indo – American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, was celebrated on the hospital premises.On this occasion, Shri Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman, BIACH & RI laid a wreath at the statues of the late Shri and Mrs.Nandamuri Basavatarakam Rama Rao on the premises of the institution.
Speaking to the doctors and staff present at the event, he said that BIACH & RI was set up with the intention of ensuring that his wife, the late Nandamuri Basavatarakam, did not face such difficulties after the death of another, especially the poor, due to cancer.
He said that since then, the hospital has been at the forefront of providing world-class cancer treatment to many poor people along with the Arogyasree scheme and free treatment.He praised the courageous treatment of doctors and non-medical staff, especially during the corona period, when cancer patients did not face any difficulties.
He assured that he would continue to lead the company in line with his father’s aspirations in the future as well.
Apart from setting up a cancer hospital for the poor, the late Nandamuri Tarakaramarao was a genius who designed irrigation projects like Telugu ganga to alleviate the Rayalaseema famine, besides providing rice for only two rupees to satisfy the hunger of the Chief Minister, said Sri Balakrishna.
He made it clear that he would work tirelessly in providing his services to the people as the son of such a great man.He advised the people to take appropriate precautions as directed by the governments, especially to combat the corona epidemic which is booming in the name of another marine Omicron.He said that this would help prevent the spread of the disease.
