Government to Finish 215km of Roads in Chhattisgarh: Fighting Maoists

New Delhi, December 30, : , In the face of decreasing Maoist footprints throughout Chhattisgarh’s state, the government is focusing its efforts on the completion of around 215km on 12 key roads within the state.
These roads are being constructed by the central security forces of Chhattisgarh.

These 12 roads are located in deep Naxal-dominated areas.The work has been designed in Mission Mode and will have adequate coverage by the central security forces and the state.

Five of these roads fall in Sukma, four in Bijapur and one in Dantewada.Two roads lie on the Bijapur–Sukma boundary, while the Dantewada–Sukma frontier.

These roads, once completed, will facilitate government development such as education and health, but they also open the door for the dominance of security forces over Maoists at their most powerful base.

Sources say that two roads such as the one linking Bheji and Chintagufa, which will be approximately 30km long and the other 8 km from Golapalli and Paidagudem were approved in 2012 and 2015.

However, the construction of these roads has yet to start.The government set the goal of building a 10-km stretch of Bheji Chintagufa by June 2020, and the whole Golapalli Paidagudem section by March 2019.

The roads were approved between 2010-2015, but the work was stopped due to security concerns.Sources in security said.

Similar to the Basaguda–Jagargunda highway, which runs 70km in Bijapur, and Sukma districts, has been approved in 2013.Only 18km of the construction remains, while only 11km remain for the Aranpur–Jagargunda section.

Security reasons have prevented work on the remainder of this section from being started.

The construction of the Bheji Chintagufa road is still not underway.

However, officials stated that the 10km stretch will be finished by June 2022.Meanwhile the Golapalli Paidagudem road will be complete by March 22.

Twelve km of the critical 52km road Nelasner–Gangloor, located in Bijapur’s district, will be complete by June 2020.The remaining 34 km are still to be finished.

Officials stated that the Konta Golapalli road through Sukma, covering 10 kilometers, will be complete by March 2022.This road runs 44km long and has already been finished six kilometers.

The completion of a 15-kilometer stretch along the Palli Barsoor road, Dantewada’s district, will take place by June 2013.This road measures 38.8km, of which 23 km have been finished.

A 26km long Usar Dharmavaram road leads to the Maoist bastion.

It has bridges in the Chintavagu region, but currently only two culverts have been built and one bridge is under construction.

According to security sources, once the roads have been completed, security forces can block the movement and supply routes of ultras from the Baster hardcore region.
