Melbourne, December 30, : .Cricket Australia had to cancel the Big Bash League match of Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars on Thursday due to a positive Covid investigation.On Thursday, a Melbourne Stars staff member was positive for HIV.This exposed him to the majority of his playing colleagues.
Cricket Australia stated that all Stars staff and players who were in touch with the positive case had to undergo PCR testing as quickly as possible, but they had not received the results within enough time to allow the match proceed.
CA stated that the league will advise the league of a new match date as soon as possible.
In a Thursday release, Alistair Dobson (Cricket Australia’s General Manager for Big Bash Leagues), was quoted saying that “While regrettable,” the decision to cancel tonight’s match was made because of the exposures in the Stars cohort.
The league maintains a variety of biosecurity protocols to ensure that our competitors are safe while the competition moves forward.
