Omicron surge: US records a new low for daily Covid-19 case numbers

Washington, December 29, : .The rapid spread of Omicron in America has brought daily Covid-19 cases to an all-time high of more than 510,000.
According to Johns Hopkins University’s latest data, it is the largest single-day rise in cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.

On Monday, the United States reported 512,553 additional cases and 1,762 deaths.

Johns Hopkins University reports that there have been nearly 160,000 additional cases, and more than 10,000 deaths, in the last week.

According to the latest US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, Sunday’s 7-day average daily rise in cases was more than 206,000.

This number is also higher than January 18th, according to Xinhua news agency.

Omicron, the variant first discovered in November in southern Africa has caused infections to soar to new heights.This virus is responsible for more than 52.9 millions US coronavirus-related cases and more than 89,000 deaths.

According to data from the CDC Tuesday, the Omicron variant was responsible for 58.6 percent of all coronavirus variants circulating across the US during the week ended December 25.

The estimate showed that the Omicron variant was more prevalent than the Delta variant (which accounted for 41.1 percent of variants).

Omicron’s rise has caused more cancellations for travel and sports events throughout the country.

Omicron surge has seen some states experience a spike in hospitalisations.Covid-19 has also been shown to be a growing treatment for children.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics and Children’s Hospital Association, Covid-19 incidences among US children is “extremely high” and on the rise.

Since the outbreak of the US pandemic, more than 7.5 million children tested positive for Covid-19.This is 1/10th American children.

Nearly 199,000 Covid-19 child cases were reported for the week ended December 23.This is a 50% increase on the weekly cases at the start of December.It was the 20th consecutive week of child Covid-19 cases exceeding 100,000.

According to AAP, more than 2.5 million child cases have occurred since the beginning of September.

Due to an unprecedented rise in infections, COVID-19 sites have been experiencing record demand.
