This was on Tuesday, the last day of the Winter Session that lasted for a week.
This was in spite of speculations that Governor Bhagat Sing Koshyari may have rejected MVA’s request to conduct the election through voice vote.

According to some reports, the Governor indicated that amendments to the rule to this effect violated the Constitution. However, the MVA leaders maintain that they were within the law and government’s authority.

On Tuesday the MVA Allies — Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party leaders — met to discuss the matter. They decided to not pursue it to avoid another clash with Raj Bhavan and any legal or constitutional implications.

Opposition BJP, on the other hand has steadfastly opposed amendments to rules for holding elections by secret ballot instead of voice vote from the very beginning.

Later, Nana Patole, the Congress State President addressed the media and stated that the Legislature had the right to modify the rules. There was nothing unConstitutional.

The Governor must respect the Constitutional position he has and not engage in politics.

Just as the government took “care to ensure the gubernatorial office is not disregarded”, he said.

He stated that MVA had written a letter to Governor informing him about all the steps to follow for the election to the position of Speaker.

The entire process of electing the Speaker could have been finished in one day. However, on today’s last day, however, Governor Patole sent another letter. The MVA government opted not to conduct the Speaker’s Election and instead decided that it would be held during February’s Budget Session,” Patole.

He mentioned how Opposition BJP threatened to impose President’s Rule in India, and said that MVA isn’t afraid of these “empty threats”.

“The BJP deliberately created obstacles for the election to the Speaker’s position through Governor. The double standards of BJP are exposed.Patole stated that the Opposition claims about voice voting are completely false, as the MVA is represented by a majority of the 174 MLAs.”

Chandrakant Patil (State BJP President) has warned that if government insists on continuing with the elections, it may lead to the imposition of central rule in the state – a risk that the MVA wouldn’t relish.
