New Delhi, 28 December : .Prime Minister Narendra Modi has included in his security upgrades a Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard, which is highly capable of surviving bullets or explosive blast, according to security sources.The new car was first seen by PM Modi at Hyderabad House, Delhi.It was there when Modi received Vladimir Putin on his two-day visit.
The vehicle has been certified as VR10-level protection, providing the best level of protection.Additionally, car windows have polycarbonate coatings that can resist hardened steel core bullets.
It is equipped with an Explosion Proof Vehicle 2010 rating.This vehicle provides protection for occupants against a 15kg TNT explosion that occurs within a radius of two meters.
S650 Guard is powered by a twin-turbo V12 engine of 6.0 litres.It produces approximately 516 horsepower and about 900 Nm peak torque.The maximum speed can be reached at 160 km/h.
To protect occupants against direct explosions, the vehicle’s lower section is well-armored.The cabin has been engineered so that occupants will receive air supply during gas attacks.
The armoured vehicle is equipped with run-flat tires that can continue functioning in the event of puncture or damage to allow for quick escape from danger zones.
The car was ordered and its cost is not known.
However, sources said that the car will be equipped with advanced gadgets and comfortable seating arrangements.
After a security review by the elite Special Protection Group, the decision was made to purchase a new armored car.The SPG decided to include the highly-acclaimed Mercedes Maybach S650 Guard.Since Modi assumed office, he has been using the Toyota Land Cruiser and Range Rover Vogue while the Chief Minister for Gujarat used modified Mahindra Bolero.
