Bhubaneswar : , Dec 26 : , Sunday, December 26, 2012: Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Chief Minister, stated that the poverty rate will drop to 10% in five years.This was said by Patnaik while speaking to workers and leaders of BJD on the 25th Foundation Day.
He stated that Odisha in 2000 has seen a significant change and now Odisha in terms of poverty reduction.
He said that Odisha’s poverty rate has fallen to 29% from 63% and that 80 lakh people are now living above the poverty line.
With the support of everyone, the State will make history and reduce poverty to 10% within five years.The Chief Minister stated that the government would take all necessary measures to reach the goal.
Patnaik stated that Odisha was given international recognition for disaster management.He has received praise from all, including UN and Niti-Aayog.
There was a time when food supply came from other countries.He pointed out that Odisha is now the third-largest food supplier state in the country.
Patnaik gave credit to farmers for their achievement and said that it also showed our determination to increase irrigation facilities in the State.
He spoke out about the steps his government has taken to empower women and said that Odisha was also ahead of other countries in providing 50% reservation for women in Panchayatiraj Institutions (Urban Local Bodies)
He said that the BJD would fight until 33% of Parliament’s seats are reserved.
He said that the investment in India’s state during the Covid-19 crisis was more than Rs 4 lakh crore.This is the highest level of foreign direct investment.
He also stated that the government provided free medical treatment and oxygen for 17 states in the devastation.
Directly slamming Congress and opposition BJP, the BJD president stated, “We don’t have any bosses in Delhi.” BJD is the boss of Odisha.We do everything for Odisha’s rights and the people of Odisha.Our actions are accountable only to Odisha.
