New Delhi/Dehradun Dec 25, : , The Uttarakhand BJP claimed Saturday that it had persuaded Harak Singh Rawat, the state forest minister of Uttarakhand, to resign after he walked out of the Cabinet meeting.Rawat walked away from the Cabinet meeting.
There was much speculation as to his next move.Umesh Sharma Kau, Rawat’s confidant, has switched to the BJP.
The BJP’s crisis management program sprung into action just as Rawat left the meeting.Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand Chief Minister) and a Delhi-based senior BJP leader spoke with Rawat to urge him to reconsider his decision.
Rawat was said to be upset by the delaying of construction on a Kotdwar medical college.Rawat cited this as the reason for his resignation.
He hasn’t, however, written his resignation until the time of filing this report.
Sources claim that the state government is now providing a grant of Rs 10-20 Crores for construction of the medical school.
Uttarkhand will go to the polls in early 2022.It is possible that the Election Commission will announce poll dates in January 2022.
The BJP is seeking to form government again for the second consecutive time.It is trying to attract leaders from opposition parties to the saffron fold, and also trying to keep bigwigs.
