Chennai, Dec 22 : Director Sukumar, whose just-released Telugu film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ has set the cash registers ringing, says he is yet to start work on the sequel ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ and that work will begin on it in February next year.
Talking to IANS, Sukumar disclosed, “I have shot some portions for ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ but then, these will have to be reshot.I will have to shoot the entire film and we intend to start shooting in February next year.We intend to release the film on December 16 next year, just like how we released ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ on December 17 this year.”
Explaining what inspired him to come up with such a story, Sukumar said, “Six years ago, an encounter happened and that was in connection with the smuggling of red sanders.That incident became the headlines in all the media.”It was after that we came to know of the magnitude and significance of the red sanders that was exclusive to the region.We got to know that the red sanders smuggling market was around a whopping Rs 2 lakh crore and we also realised that these trees grow only in the Chittoor belt of Andhra Pradesh.
Nowhere else in the world can you find this wood.It was then that a thought struck me as to why not make a big commercial entertainer with this as the backdrop.”Sukumar, who is known for being thorough in whatever he does, did extensive research on the topic before beginning work on the film, which stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead.The director said, “We did research on the topic for almost a period of six months.Originally, we thought of making this as a web series but then, eventually we made it into a film.”mani/kr
Sukumar will start work on “Pushpa The Rule” in February.
Sukumar explained that he was inspired to tell this story six years ago.It had something do with red sanders smuggling.This incident was the subject of all media coverage.It was then that we discovered the importance and magnitude of red sanders, which were only found in this region.The red sanders market for smuggling was estimated at Rs 2.25 lakh crore.We also discovered that this tree only grows in Chittoor Belt of Andhra Pradesh.This wood is not available anywhere else on the planet.
I thought to myself, “Why not create a commercial entertainer using this backdrop?”
Sukumar is an expert in his field and known for meticulous research before starting work on the movie.It stars Allu Arjun as the lead, while Rashmika Mendanna plays the role of Rashmika Mandanna.
According to the director, they did extensive research for six months on this topic.We originally intended to make this a web series, but it was eventually made into a movie.
