New Delhi, Dec 16 : A day after India Test captain Virat Kohli’s startling revelations on the T20I captaincy saga, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Thursday said that he won’t make any additional comments and the matter will be dealt with by the board.
During his pre-departure press conference ahead of the tour of South Africa, Kohli on Wednesday said that he was never asked to stay on as T20 skipper when he informed the board about his decision to relinquish the post, contradicting Ganguly’s statement which suggested that the star batter was asked to reconsider his decision.
Notably, the former India captain had said that he personally spoke to Kohli when he was deciding to step down as the T20I captain and urged him to carry on with the job but the star batter decided to quit the position.
Asked about Kohli’s comments, the BCCI chief refused to speak on the whole controversy.
“I have got nothing to say.We will deal with it appropriately, leave it to the BCCI,” Ganguly told mediapersons in Kolkata.With Ganguly and Kohli directly contradicting each other in public, there is a visible issue between the board and India’s Test skipper ahead of the big series against South Africa.Amid all the controversy, Kohli and his Test team departed for their South Africa tour in a chartered plane from Mumbai on Thursday morning and landed in the Rainbow nation.Kohli will lead the Test team in a three-match Test series from December 26 while Rohit Sharma, who has been ruled out of the red-ball games due to a hamstring injury, will captain the ODI side if he gets fit before January 19.

“I don’t have anything to add.Ganguly stated to mediapersons that they will handle it in a proper manner, and leave the BCCI with it,” Ganguly said.Ganguly and Kohli contradicting one another in public is an obvious issue between India’s Test skipper and the board ahead of the series against South Africa.
Kohli and the Test team, despite all the scandal, took off from Mumbai in an aircraft chartered for South Africa on Thursday morning.They landed in Rainbow Nation.
Kohli will be leading the Test team for a series of three matches beginning December 26, while Rohit Sharma (who has been out of red-ball games with a hamstring injury) will take charge as the captain for the ODI side, if he is fit.
