Johannesburg, December 14, 2014 : .The Cricket South Africa has updated the bio-bubble rules for India’s tour.
They will be in effect from 26th of December. The CSA stated that all members of the touring party as well as the host contingent have been fully vaccinated.
If any positive Covid-19 cases arise, they will be permitted to isolate themselves inside the bubble. The cricket board stated that any person who tests positive for Covid-19 during South Africa-India will not have to evacuate the bubble but will instead be permitted to remain in quarantine at the hotel as long as their clinical condition is stable.
The cricket board stated that these are the’strict norms’ for the Bio-secure Environment, (BSI), which were established by Cricket South Africa and BCCI in coordination with BCCI.”The Indian contingent will arrive in Johannesburg late this week,” it said.
Shuaib Manjra, chief medical officer at CSA, stated that “considering that all members of the ecosystem will receive vaccinated,” the positive case would be isolated within the hotel room if clinically stabilized.” ESPNcricinfo was also informed by Shuaib Manjra.
He said, “Contacts will keep playing and training with no-medical interventions strictly monitored and tested daily.”
CSA had originally put together more relaxed bio-bubble plans after the third wave of the pandemic receded in South Africa in October. These have now been modified following the emergence and quick global surge of Omicron, the latest covid-19 variant.
“Whilst at the end of the third wave we considered moving from a strict BSE to a managed environment, the Omicron variant and high levels of community transmission have forced a strict BSE,” Manjra stated.
