Seoul, November 20, 2018 : .South Korea has confirmed an additional case of highly pathogenic Avian Influenza from a duck farm in its southwestern region.
This is the sixth such case this season, according to the ministry of agriculture.According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the H5N1 strain was found in Gangjin, 400 km south of Seoul.
It was revealed that authorities have begun culling 24,000 ducks raised in the area as a precautionary measure and are implementing additional quarantine measures at the farm.
Yonhap news agency stated that highly pathogenic Avian Influenza is extremely contagious and can be fatal to birds, particularly domestic poultry.
