New Delhi, November 20, 2018 : .Following the Modi government’s announcement to repeal all three Union farm laws, Congress decided that it would celebrate Kisan Vijay Diwas on Saturday and also organize a victory rally across the country.
This will shift the Congress’s political strategy regarding the farmers’ issue.The Central government’s second major move after widespread protests by the public was the abrogation of farm laws.
The Congress has all the tools necessary to combat inflation and other urgent issues facing the country.K.C., the All India Congress Committee’s General Secretary, has been appointed.Venugopal sent a Friday letter to the states, informing them that the party will celebrate ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas,’ after the withdrawal of three Union farm laws.
Celebrations of the Central government’s repealing all three farm laws should be open to everyone.
A ‘Kisan victory rally will also be held.All Congress presidents of state units have instructed all workers at every level, from district to block, to commemorate the Kisan Vijay Divi.
The Congress decided earlier to launch a Jan Jagran Abhiyan (public awareness campaign against Modi’s policies) starting on November 14.This campaign was launched by Congress on various topics such as the rise in petrol-diesel price, unemployment and inflation.
Congress decided to organize foot marches by workers and party leaders on the same lines as the Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Dandi March,’ against the British.
The Centre imposed a lower excise tax on petrol and diesel prices after Congress protests.This relief was provided to the public.The Union government withdrew the three Central farm laws on Friday.
The Congress has also changed its overall strategy for Jan Jagran Abhiyan after such Centre-led decisions.
Now, the Congress will make preparations for the Central government’s withdrawal of all the farm laws within the Parliament.
The Congress leadership will contact the citizens to demand that the Union government guarantees the minimum support price (MSP), loan waiver, and removal of GST from the agriculture sector.
The Congress, on the other hand was instrumental in uniting the opposition parties while requesting the repeal of all three farm law provisions during the previous Parliament session.
Opposition parties demanded that all three farm laws be repealed, from Parliament down to the streets.The Commiunist Party Of India Marxist, Trinamool Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal along with 20 other opposition parties, wrote a joint demand to the Central government for the removal of all three farm laws.
The Congress will also attempt to unify the opposition parties during the winter session.This responsibility has been delegated by the party to Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi stated that after nearly twelve months of peaceful protests Congress had finally won.”Farmers and labourers have been able to win today because of the struggle and willpower of 62 crore Annadatas.More than 700 families of farmers saw their sacrifices paid today.Their loved ones gave their lives for justice, truth and nonviolence.
Farmers should pay more attention to welfare policies and ensure that crop yields are at MSP rates.Before any Union government takes such a step in the future, I will make sure all states, farmers organizations, and opposition parties are considered.”
