Chennai, November 19, : , The Tamil Nadu Health Department has instructed the district collectors in Tamil Nadu to organize medical camps to stop the spread of infectious diseases following the flooding and the continuous rainfall.Dr.J.Radhakrishnan, the state health secretary has asked the district collectors for medical camps to be held in flood-affected regions and prevent the spread of disease.
The state health department directed the collectors to use bleaching powder and clear garbage in areas that have been affected by flooding and where water levels are low.They also instructed them to stop the overflow of sewage and chlorinating water.
District collectors have been directed by the state health department to organize mobile medical camps for diseases such as fever, diarrhea and dengue.
Ma Subramanian, the state minister for health, stated to IANS that all district collectors have been directed by the state health department to organize health camps in order to stop any spread of disease.
To prevent diseases spreading, the state health department will provide all support to district administrations.
For the last few weeks, heavy rains have left many parts of Tamil Nadu reeling.
This has led to flooding, waterlogging and inundation, which caused pipes to burst, as well as the mixing of sewages with water streams.This has caused many problems, and increased the risk of spreading diseases.
Massive Covid vaccination camps have been conducted by the health department across the state.Each week, around 50,000 vaccination camps were held at the centres.It is mandatory that the state government vaccinate 1.04 million people.The experience gained from vaccine camps makes it easier for district administrations and health workers to organize camps in order to combat the spread of communicable disease after heavy rains.
