Los Angeles, November 15, 2008 : Depeche Mode’s lead singer Dave Gahan just released his cover album with Soulsavers titled “Impostor”.He has stated that he has “impostor syndrome” as an electronic performer and wants to reach a point where he no longer cares about what others think. In an interview with Variety, the 59-year-old singer said: “I’ve been performing on stages for many, many years in front of people, and there have been many times when it’s not entirely comfortable, and when I do feel like an imposter.Variety interviewed the 59-year old singer, who said that she has performed on stages for many, countless years before he felt like an imposter.
“And when I’ve seen (those performances) back, it shows to me, I see through all the stuff.”And when (those performances are) back, it shows me that I see through all of the stuff. So as a singer and a performer, I’m always trying to get to the point where I no longer care what you think, I’m just singing a song.As a singer and performer, I am always striving to reach the point where I don’t care about what you think.I’m simply singing a song.
“It’s a feeling that’s fleeting in the day-to-day, but when I’m truly in a song, there’s an intimacy that I reveal to myself somehow that, more times than not, I can’t access. It’s a fleeting feeling in the day-today, but when it’s true, I feel a sense of intimacy with the song that I cannot access.
“I think this is true of many performers.”I believe this to be true for many performers.Performing has always been a huge part of my life, but there are often times when I’m questioning it.Although performing has been an integral part of my life for many years, there are times when it is difficult to believe that I am actually doing it.Is that really me?.Is this really me? Is that what I am?.Does that really describe me? Is that what I do?.Or is that what I do? Or is this some sort of disguise?.Is this a disguise? But a song?.A song, however? I can live in a song.”.A song is all I need.”
The ‘Personal Jesus’ hitmaker also said that he had previously been asked to make a covers album many years ago, but he didn’t feel confident enough at the time, while he wasn’t keen on the idea of working with musicians he hadn’t met before, reports femalefirst.co.uk.According to femalefirst.co.uk, the ‘Personal Jesus” singer also stated that he was once asked to record a cover album, many years back, but he didn’t feel confident enough.
He told the publication: “I didn’t have the confidence, for one, when I was approached to do it, it was like, ‘We’ll pick these songs for you, and put these great musicians together for you.’ But I have to have a relationship with the people in the room when I make music.According to him, “I didn’t have the confidence to do it.It was like, ‘We’ll pick these songs and put these great performers together for you .’.But, I need to build a relationship with people when I make music.
“Even if it makes me feel like I’m crawling out of my skin at some points, and sometimes it does, there’s something about that’s very important when you’re trying to find yourself as a singer.”.”Even though it sometimes makes me feel like my skin is rotting, it’s still very important to be able to sing well.”
