Andhra Pradesh state government is going to set up the largest virology laboratory in Gannavaram.To date, the complex samples were sent to the Virology Laboratory in Pune or CCMB (Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology-Hyderabad) for testing.
From now on, the complex samples can be sent to this virology laboratory for testing.
Recently, NCDC (National Center for Disease Control) officials came to Andhra Pradesh to examine the land near Vijayawada.
In this context, the Andhra Pradesh state government responded swiftly and sanctioned 3 acres of land at Gannavaram Airport.
The construction of this laboratory cost is estimated between Rs 15 to Rs 20 crores.
However, the laboratory will be available within two years.It will employ more than 300 people.
Including all types of viruses, bacterial specimens, insects, yellow fever, etc., samples can also be examined in this laboratory.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr M.Anuradha, Senior Regional Director, Central Department of Medical and Health said, “At present, we do not have a genomic sequence lab in our state.The Andhra Pradesh government-sanctioned 3 acres of land in Gannavaram for the construction of the largest laboratory.We will take steps to make the laboratory available within two years.We will make a memorandum of understanding soon.”
