Tel Aviv, Sep 9 : The number of tourists who visited Israel in the initial eight months of 2022 surpassed 1.5 million, which is an increase of more than sevenfold in comparison to the same time in the previous year, when a total of 209,000 came to Israel according to the Central Bureau of Statistics.The month of August was the most busy for tourists.234,400 landed in Israel in comparison to 52,900 in the same month in the previous year, Xinhua news agency quoted the Bureau as saying.
Israel hit 1 million visitor entries for 2022 on the 10th of July.
Israel opened its borders to fully vaccine-vaccinated foreigners in January, after having shut them out for the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In March, the government permitted non-vaccinated tourists to travel the country, and in May, it stopped all Covid testing for passengers arriving at the airport.
