San Francisco, December 13, 2013 : .Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturer Tesla was hit with a second lawsuit for sexual harassment in the US.
A female employee claimed that she was “hugged, massaged” by her boss and that she suffered “continuous, pervasive” harassment.Business Insider reports that Erica Cloud was an assembly worker at Tesla’s Fremont factory in California.She filed the suit.
According to the lawsuit, she was subjected to “sexual harassment on almost a daily basis” by her ex-manager.
The manager was also supposed to “get down on his knees, propose marriage”, and “hug” and massage her.
Multiple times, she rejected her advances.
According to the suit, Cloud was allegedly informed by the manager that he told her “on multiple occasions” she is “blackenese” and he’s “big down there” in the spring 2020.
Cloud claimed that the electric car manufacturer failed to stop “a pattern and pervasive sexual harassment” at Fremont, California’s Fremont plant.
Tesla has not yet commented on the second lawsuit, which was filed in less than a month.
Last month, a Tesla female employee filed suit against the company.
She claimed that the company created a hostile environment in which sexual harassment was rampant.
According to a report in The Washington Post, Jessica Barraza, a production associate who works on the Tesla Model 3, said in a lawsuit that she was subjected to constant harassment at the Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California, “including catcalling and inappropriate physical touching”.
“After almost three years of experiencing all the harassment, it robs your sense of security — it almost dehumanises you,” she was quoted as saying in the report.
The lawsuit alleged “rampant sexual harassment at Tesla,” alleging “nightmarish conditions” and a factory floor that “more resembles a crude, archaic construction site or frat house than a cutting-edge company in the heart of the progressive San Francisco Bay area”.
Tesla produces its Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y electric vehicles at the Fremont plant.
In October, Tesla was ordered to pay $137 million to a former contractor at the same plant, who alleged he was subjected to racial harassment.
