The vacation bench of the Telangana High Court said that BTech degree must be considered equivalent on a par with BSc (Mathematics) for the post of TGT (Mathematics) pursuant to the recent recruitment notification issued by the Telangana State Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board.
Justice Pulla Karthik was dealing with a petition filed by P.Susmita, challenging the recruitment notification No.O9/2O23 dated April 5 and 27 for recruitment of teacher posts. For the post of TGT (Mathematics), BTech graduates were not invited to apply, in contravention of the regulations of National Council for Teacher Education.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that while BEd admissions are allowing BTech candidates, in recruitment, only BSc and BEd degree holders are allowed.
The counsel also brought to the notice of the court that in spite of the division bench of the High Court directing for NCTE regulations to be followed, many boards were not doing so.
Considering the contentions, the vacation bench directed the authorities to consider the applications of the BTech candidates for recruitment.
Earlier in December 2021, a division Bench of the Telangana High Court made it clear that the BE and B.Tech degree candidates with an additional B.Ed degree are eligible for the posts of Trained Graduate Teachers and Post Graduate Teachers
