The previous Telugu government betrayed the backward Uttar Andhra and Rayalaseema districts.
The Central Government at the time announced that the State Partition Act would give a special package for the development of all the seven districts in these two areas.
With this, the authorities have submitted a detailed report to the Center to give Rs 24,350 crore over a period of five years, explaining the areas in which the three districts of Uttar Andhra and four districts of Rayalaseema are lagging behind. But, the then Chief Minister was completely squatted in the pursuit of these funds.
The matter came to light recently with the reply given by the Union Minister of State for Finance to a question in the Rajya Sabha.According to figures compiled by officials, former chief minister Chandrababu has compromised with the Center to secure funding.
He said it was okay to give only Rs 50 crore a year to the district. In other words, if the Center gives Rs 350 crore to seven districts, Chandrababu is not right.
However, the central government released Rs 350 crore over a period of three years and the TDP government did not utilize the funds properly. The central government has made it clear that it will provide further funding only if its utilization documents are submitted.
It has suspended their release from the 2017-18 financial year. The then TDP government, on the other hand, acted in stark contrast to the need to use central funds to increase literacy in these districts and to create the minimum infrastructure required by the people.
However, the YSRCP, led by the current Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, has secured Rs 350 crore from the Center for Uttar Andhra and Rayalaseema districts in 2019-20 alone. Also, the YSRCP government has achieved another Rs 350 crore in the 2020–21 financial year.
Besides, it is learned that during a recent meeting with Prime Minister Modi, CM YS Jagan sought financial assistance of Rs 24,350 crore for the development of the backward Rayalaseema and Uttar Andhra districts.Recently BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL.
Asked by Narasimha Rao, Union Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary disclosed the details of release of funds to the backward districts.
