Hyderabad 8th August : Handloom Industries in the Telangana state is a special position in the nation due to its distinctive art and artifacts of handloom weaver.The day of National Handlooms Day, actress Tabu was seen on the stage to show off Telangana handlooms and textiles.The fashion show was a collection that included over 50 sarees as well as garments made of the fabrics that are made in Telangana.The show-stopper was Tabu who wore in a traditional Gharara with a short dupatta and kurta.
In total 26 models, including 21 women and five men were on the ramp for the ‘Amogham’ fashion show, hosted by the award-winning textile designer Gaurang Shah, who wanted to showcase the diversity and breadth that Telangana offers to the world.
The event was organized by the state’s Department of Handlooms & Textiles and the Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (TSCO).
Models were sashayed in lively Ikkats from Pochampally and Puttapaka elegant gadwals and beautiful fabrics from Narayanpet and other local textiles.The cheriyal-style paintings on the fabric in the shape of lehengas were a true classic.
Tassels made from hand-crafted etikoppaka toys are a specialty of the state.The the richness of hand-woven chiffon, Khadi and Kota were also displayed beautifully.
Each of the fabrics on display was created using the looms of Telangana which allows the weaver a year-round production.
Gaurang stated “Every artwork we’ve curated and exhibited is not just a an everlasting body of work by Telangana but also timeless artists.My work through these events and numerous initiatives in the state has helped ordinary people, with no relation to textiles, to be able to weave.”
