Nani ‘V’ movie Review: V for Failure!

Quick Review:  Poor selection of Nani for a milestone like 25^th film.

Intro:

Indraganti Mohan Krishna and Nani combination has been successful so far with ‘Ashta Chamma (2008)’ and Gentleman (2016).

‘V’ is their hattrick film and also the 25th film for Nani.

The duo wanted to hit the box-office very hard and joined forces to bring up this action thriller.However, the coronavirus has halted their dreams and forced to release the film on Amazon Prime.

This is the first high budget Telugu film to release directly in an OTT platform instead of theatres.So, let’s check it out how far the movie has impressed the audience.

Story:

Heartthrob DCP Aditya (Sudheer Babu) is daring and dashing on and off duty.His fellow mates feel jealous of him, and girls fall at his glance.

Apoorva Ramanujan (Nivetha Thomas) is not an exception for that and falls for him in a pub.Consequently, a Serial Killer (Nani) wants to defame Aditya and throws a challenge at him committing a brutal murder.Who is that Serial Killer? Why he challenges Aditya? What is the motive behind all the murders? Forms the rest of the story.

How is it?

In one word, tedious.

Analysis:

Indraganti Mohan Krishna deliberately projected Nani as a psychopath and antagonist right from the beginning of picturizing V.Why? He doesn’t know the answer.A writer-director like him, who has ten films experience, it is just cheating the audience.

He confused whether to show Nani as a psychopath, or an antagonist, or a man with full of vengeance.The story is dead old, which we have seen many times for decades.

The screenplay runs at a snail pace, testing our patience.The film is of 2 hr 20 min long, and you hardly see Nani for a minute in the first thirty minutes.

After the motive behind the murders and the real antagonists are revealed during the climax, the film should end in five or ten minutes, but a Bhojpuri type of song halts the proceedings and tests our forbearance.

Performances:

Nani has done far better performance than this in his previous films.This film is just skippable.Sudheer Babu grabs the opportunity well.

Nivetha Thomas is good, and Aditi Rao’s role is forgettable, thanks to her dubbing, it is unbearable.Remaining characters are not worth to mention.

Technicalities:

Director failed in all aspects.A few dialogues are good to have a crescent smile.P.G.Vinda tried his best to elevate the mood, but what can he do, when there is no emotion on the frame? Music lovers will miss Amit Trivedi’s mark.Such a good music director has only given one best song in this film.

Background music by SS Thaman is just ok.The editor could have chopped a few scenes, like the interrogation at JC jewellers, to bring some relief to the viewers.Production values are good as it is from Dil Raju’s production.

Final Verdict: Emotionless and uninteresting.
