Akkineni Nagarjuna and his family on Sunday joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-talked-about ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign, embarking upon the task of clearing debris outside the Annapurna Studios here.
Accompanied by friends and well-wishers, the Akkineni family walked out of the studio premises armed with brooms and started cleaning up the usually dirty approach for about an hour and a half.
He also unveiled a website – to educate the people about the cleanliness campaign.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Nagarjuna for joining the “Swachh Bharat” mission, saying that he will inspire others too.
Modi said: “Noted actor Nagarjuna joining Swachh Bharat Mission can draw many others towards our efforts to create a Clean India.”Modi launched the “Swachh Bharat Mission” campaign Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
After participating in cleanliness drive Nagarjuna nominated people from a cross-section of society – civic and voluntary activists Major Shiva Karan (Sukuki Exnora), Syed Mazhar Hussain (COVA-Confederation of Voluntary Associations), Mujeeb Khan (Bhumi), Krithiga Reddy (Head of Facebook India), ace shuttler Pullela Gopichand and actors Allu Arjun and Sudeep (of ‘Eega’ fame) as the first batch of ambassador
