The Kashi Vidvat Parishad is a respected body of scholars, saints and historians that will keep the historical records relating to the Kashi Vishwanath DhamRam Narain Dwivedi Parishad secretary, stated that Raj Todarmal Banaras rebuilt the temple in 1595AD.
Mughal King Aurangzeb, a Mughal ruler issued a decree in 1669 ordering the demolition of Kashi Vishwanaths temple.This order can still be found in Asiatic Library, Kolkata.
Mustaid Khan, a contemporary author, has written a detailed description of the demolition.He stated that records would be kept in order to allow future generations to learn about the history and significance of the shrine.
