Karnataka Hijab Row: 40 students fail to appear for exams!

The hijab controversy, which was supposed to have subsided with the Karnataka High Court verdict, has resurfaced.

Forty Muslim students from Udupi districts in Karnataka failed to appear for the first pre-university exams on Tuesday (March 29,2022).Because they did not like to write tests without wearing hijab.

Although the High Court has given a clear verdict in the hijab case, some students are dissatisfied with it.The Karnataka High Court recently ruled that the hijab should not be worn in classrooms in educational institutions.It seems that the students, upset by the orders issued on March 15, have decided not to attend the exam without wearing hijab.

They are all fighting a legal battle to ban the wearing of the hijab in classrooms.These students have previously boycotted practical exams.

Out of 28 Muslim students in RN Shetty PU College, only 13 students appeared for the exam.Some other students arrived at the examination center wearing hijabs but were not allowed to do so.On March 24, the apex court refused to hold an urgent hearing on the petitions filed challenging the Karnataka High Courts judgment on the dispute.It seems that the students want to wait for the Supreme Court to issue orders on the hijab issue.
