The gang-rape of a young woman in Thadepalli has become a sensation in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Responding seriously to the incident, recently CM YS Jagan held a high-level meeting on womens safety.
He held discussions with several senior police officials, including State Home Minister Mekatoti Sucharita and DGP Gautam Sawang.The CM suggested that special attention be paid to the safety of women in the state.
Speaking on this occasion, Jagan said that the focus should be mainly on the use of the Disha app designed for womens safety.Jagan directed the authorities to conduct awareness programs for women in the state on the use of the Disha app.He said that training programs should be set up for women by women police and volunteers in the secretariats.CM Jagan said the girl students and women in colleges and institutions should also be made aware of how to use the app in dangerous situations.
Also, Jagan suggested that the police department especially the Disha police stations should be prepared to provide immediate assistance to women at risk.CM Jagan directed to increase the number of patrolling vehicles for the police stations.
