Bharat Bandh: Union govt deployed huge security forces in Delhi

Farmers unions across the country continue Bharat Bandh today protesting the Union governments agricultural laws.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), comprising 40 farmers unions, has called on the Bharat bandh.

On Sunday, SKM appealed to people from all corners of the country to peacefully participate in their agitation.Several opposition parties, including Congress, have expressed support for the Bharat bandh.

The bandh will continue from six in the morning to four in the evening today.Against this backdrop, the union government has deployed heavy police forces in various parts of Delhi to prevent any adverse incidents from happening in the wake of the bandh.

Also, the capital city has tightened security at its borders.Police have closed roads from Uttar Pradesh to Ghazipur.

Farmers said they were blockading the borders of Punjab and Haryana till 4 pm.They blocked the main roads with their tractors.Despite the bandh, public transportation continues in Delhi.

There have been some changes in metro services.Prominent leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Mayawati declared support for the farmer unions protesting against the agricultural laws.

Also, opposition leaders in several states of the country are extending their support to the bandh.
