The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed the stay imposed on GO no:44 as part of the implementation of the Right to Education Act (RTE).
Under this, 25 per cent free seats would be reserved for economically backward students in private schools.
The High Court asked the state government to submit a reo=port on steps being taken by the state government in order to implement the Right to Education Act in the wake of the Supreme Court order.The High Court, which had given the government time to file an additional affidavit, adjourned the next hearing to September 1.The bench of Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice Naina Jayasuriya recently passed the orders.Lawyer Thandava Yogesh filed public interest litigation in the High Court in 2017 alleging that the government was not enforcing the 25 per cent reservation to economically backward students.
The tribunal, after hearing the arguments, issued orders lifting the stay previously granted on GO 44, which was brought by the government for enforcement of the 25 per cent reservation for economically weaker students under the RTE Act.On the other hand, CM Jagan recently distributed academic kits to students under the Jagnanna Vidhyakanuka scheme at ZP High school in East Godavari.
