The heart wrenching story of Sarbjit Singh is getting a filmy platform for narration.As you know, Sarbjit was convicted and kept for 23 years in Pakistani jail and to the irony, left his last breath on Pakistani land.
Director Omung Kumar is sketching this tale on silver screen.Randeep Hooda, who is also the main lead of Kajal Agarwal’s Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, is playing Sarbjit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will narrate the story playing his sister.
Randeep lost 18 kgs to look like a man spending 23 years of jail with no proper food.
“He cut down on his meals, filling up on coffee and water, even when we were shooting in Palghar and gorging on some great food.In his years in jail, Sarabjit was kept in a 4 x 4 room and had rat bites all over him.The first time I met Randeep, I told him that I wanted to see his bones.He took up the challenge and shocked even me.It was only when I called for him that I realised he was sitting right there.I gave him a 20 days break and he came back all pumped up” said the director .
