Panaji, September 9 : Just after the Supreme Court on Friday stayed the demolition of Curlies restaurant in Goa the chief minister Pramod Sawant said that his government will take action with an iron hand against any location that is used to traffic in drugs. “Our State has no tolerance for illegal trafficking in drugs.
My government will take action with an iron hand at any place where illegal activities are conducted.The people who are involved in this kind of illegal act will not be disregarded as well.
The crackdown and the action continues,” Sawant tweeted.
Sawant on Wednesday stated that police are working to end the “demand of drugs” and in the future, raids will be conducted at night parties to detain those who are found to have consumed drugs.
“Anti-Narcotic Cell” has arrested three drug peddlers who are the main culprits.We are taking strong action against drugs (trade) in the state.
We are bringing cases against the suppliers as well as people who consume it in celebrations.We are trying to stop the need (of substances).The main suppliers were detained in these two days.” he had said.
Goa’s BJP government has been under fire after the murder of TikTok Star Sonali Phogat, to whom methamphetamine-based drugs were allegedly administered in the course of she was out partying in Curlies restaurant in Anjuna.
Following the murder of Phogat in Goa the police from the state have raided a number of places in Anjuna and detained drug peddlers, as well as the people found to be drinking substances.
The demolition crew on Friday morning had begun the demolition of the Curlies nightclub, in accordance with the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) but the Supreme Court later stayed the demolition.
