Guwahati 7th September : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday mocked the ‘Bharat Jody Yatra’ of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and referred to the event as one of the most popular comedies of this century. In a press conference in Guwahati, he said that the country doesn’t require a ‘Bharat Jodo Yotra because we live in an unison India.
India was divided once in 1947, when the new nation Pakistan was established and it was Rahul Gandhi’s party Congress who allowed this division to take place.
Sarma suggested to the former Congress president that he should instead go to Pakistan and take part in the yatra in Pakistan so that people could experience an India that was united prior to the partition.
Sarma tweeted “The Bharat Jodo Yatra is an Comedy of the Century! The Bharat that we live in today is strong, resilient and united. The only time that India split was in 1947, because Congress accepted it.Rahul Gandhi ji must visit Pakistan for the ‘Bharat Jodo Yotra If they want to unify.”
Sarma Also took a swipe at the senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who previously said that the Assam Chief Minister “boyish”.
When asked about the statement of Ramesh, Sarma replied, “Who is he? I don’t know. While I was in Congress I’d never had a relationship with an individual with the name.”
He stated that nobody can remember Congress their leaders’ names these days.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra is considered to be one of the most exciting marches of the Congress.
The yatra is scheduled to start at Kanyakumari on September 7 and will conclude in Jammu and Kashmir comprising twelve Indian states as well as two union territories. It will conclude in February of next year.
