New Delhi, Sep 7 : Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K.Saxena has sent an email to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal requesting the release of Rs 383.74 million due to the municipal corporations of the city with education and health heads.
“It has come to my attention that Rs.383.74 crore , for 2020-21 and 2021-22, under the plan headings of Urban Development, Education and Medical is not been transferred to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (erstwhile SDMC, NDMC and EDMC) by the Urban Development Department of GNCTD,” said LG in the letter.

The letter further states that, in comparison to the updated budget estimate that was approved for the amount of Rs 3,768.64 crore in the above plan head categories during the Financial Years 2020-21 and 2021-22 only 3,384.90 crore was released.3,384.90 crore was released, which resulted in the deficit of the amount of 383.74 crore.

The LG in the letter stated that the funds are needed for the operation and development of infrastructure that is related to hospitals, schools dispensaries, roads pathways, etc.that affect the daily lives of the residents of Delhi.

“It should not be forgotten that the budget estimates mentioned above were approved and voted on by the Delhi Legislative Assembly and it was the responsibility of the Urban Development Department to timely release the funds to MCD.But it wasn’t completed despite numerous requests.As a result of the delay in the announcement of funds, the delivery of diverse public services provided by MCD is being hampered which is causing inconvenience to the residents of Delhi,” the letter reads.

Therefore, in the greater interests of Delhi’s citizens of Delhi I ask you to ensure that the Rs.383.74 crores for the next two Financial Years including.2020-21 and 2021-22 which is unfairly detained by the Urban Development Department is made available to the MCD as soon as possible, Saxena said in the letter.
