New Delhi, Sep 7 : Google has expanded its eco-friendly routing option through Google Maps to include 40 additional nations across Europe. With eco-friendly route options, users can select the route that is optimized to use less fuel and helps them reduce their fuel costs and also reduce carbon emissions.
“Eco-friendly route” is having an impact across the globe.Since its introduction in the US and Canada it’s been estimated to have removed over half a million metric tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to taking 100,000 fuel-powered automobiles off the road,” said Google.
The company has also recently introduced this feature in Germany.
With eco-friendly routes, Google Maps will show users the fastest route, as well as the one that is most efficient in fuel use.
“The most efficient route for fuel consumption will depend on the kind of engine you own.For instance diesel engines are typically more efficient when traveling at higher speeds than gas or petrol engines but electric and hybrid vehicles work better in the stop-and-go lane,” Google informed.
In the coming days, Google will make it possible for drivers taking eco-friendly routes in Europe and in the U.S.and Canada to choose the type of car they want to drive gasoline or petrol diesel, hybrid, or electric vehicle (EV).
Google Maps also offers turn-by-turn directions for pedestrians.
“To ensure that you’re not walking in the wrong direction, Live View uses augmented reality to display arrows as well as directions clearly overlayed onto the map.You can also preview your route with Street View,” said the company.
