Hyderabad, Aug 27 : Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T.Rama Rao on Saturday decried the efforts to use religion as a tool for political gain and declared that Telangana government is in no mood to be stuck in a race to see who’s god is the best.In a bid to target the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he said those who have not delivered in their administration were harping about ‘Halal, Hijab and Munawar Faruqui controversy’ to divert public’s focus.
He said that since they do not have an answer to the progress of the country and improving the lives of people, they’re now raking controversy.
“I would like to know what god is the one who wants his followers to believe in violence and hatred,” he asked while giving a speech at the B.R.Ambedkar Open University here.

“Today China is $16 trillion while India is at $3 trillion.China’s GDP is 5.8 times more.What’s happening? We’re fighting about your religion, what’s your caste and what you should eat, and the clothes you must wear” he said.
He said that even though Telangana’s population is just 2.5 percent of the people of the country but its contribution to the country’s GDP is 5 percent.”This is due to the fact that we are a forward-thinking and progressive.We have chosen not to examine who’s god is most powerful,” he said.

He claimed that the freebies are essential for a third world country such as India.
“We might call ourselves vishwa gurus, but the fact is that we’re a third world country.
A majority of our population lives below the poverty threshold.We may be happy with it or not, but the primary responsibility of an elected and democratically-elected government in third-world countries is to ensure the protection of those who are vulnerable,” he said.
He cautioned that if fundamental needs of the most vulnerable people were not taken into consideration of society would be forced to bear the burden of their insanity.
“Rich and middle class upper middle class must realize that they can be secure and that there are law and law and order when there is no tension in society,” he said and noted that the country has seen plenty of problems.
KTR said that attempts to end with welfare schemes by calling it a ‘freebie culture’ could result in devastating consequences.He was unsure if the that the Rs 12 lakh crore of corporate tax exemption granted by the central government of India wasn’t a freebie.
KTR attacked the Narendra Modi-led government, saying that it destroyed the Indian economy with foolish decisions like demonetisation and causing unrest in the country to hide its mistakes.
He declared that the story of Telangana was an entirely different story as it had made significant progress in the past eight years, despite the Centre’s lack of cooperation and despite foolish decisions such as demonetisation.
He noted that Telangana’s Gross State Product (GSDP) had risen to 11.55 lakh crore from 5.6 lakh crore in 2014.
