Chennai 23 August : A well-known Tamil director Lingusamy has announced that his production company Thirrupathi Brothers will appeal against Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court Order that sentenced Lingusamy and his brother a six-month prison in connection with the case of a cheque bounce.On Monday, director who has delivered a number of films like ‘Anandham “Run,” ‘Sanda Kozhi and ‘Paiyya’ was, along with his brother sentenced to six months in jail by the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Sadaipet in the case brought by PVP Capital Limited.
PVP initiated the case after a 1.03 crore cheque it received from Lingusamy bounced.
After the decision, Lingusamy made an apology in which he declared, “It is my duty to provide an explanation to the media reports that are being circulated concerning me at present.The case involves PVP Capital Limited and our production house Thirrupathi Brothers Film Media Private Limited.
A verdict was handed down in the case brought by them.We will immediately appeal against this ruling by the court of honour.”
The film of Lingusamy’s Thirrupathi Brothers is believed to have borrowed money from PVP for the film, but it never went off, and the loan, taken few years ago, was not returned.
In accordance with court’s orders the director agreed to pay the money and then issued a check, which was eventually rejected.
