Chennai, Dec 26 : S.Ramadoss, founder of PMK, has appealed to the DMK government to conduct an all-party meeting for getting exemption from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
He said that students should not be used as scapegoats for NEET exemption issues and added that students who come from economically poorer areas must be allowed to pursue their dreams.Ramadoss said that the Tamil Nadu Governor has not yet given his assent to the NEET Exemption Bill.
Ramadoss stated that there wasnt any clarity as to when the Bill would reach President Ram Nath Kovind.He stated that Tamil Nadus poor rural students should not be afraid of NEET, and asked the government for an all-party meeting before the admission process starts in the academic year.
Retired judge Justice Rajan has headed a commission that will study NEETs impact on Tamil Nadu.His report recommended that NEET be scrapped by the state, and that students are admitted based upon their marks from the plus-two exams.The DMKs Chief Minister M.K.made scrapping NEET a key poll platform.Stalin is particularly criticized.
