Saurav Ghosal clinches Malaysian Open Squash C’ships title

Kuala Lumpur : Indias Saurav Gosal won the 2021 Malaysian Open Squash Championships.

He defeated Miguel Rodriguez from Colombia in Saturdays mens singles finalGhosal, seeded two, was ranked 15th in world rankings and outclassed Rodriguez 11-7, 11-8 and 13-11 in 55 minutes to win the 10th PSA title in his career.

He became the 1st Indian to win the Malaysian Open Champion - an event that is part of the PSA World Tour Bronze.Ghosal had complete control of the final from the beginning.

Ghosal won the first game 11-7, before winning the second 11-8.Although the Indian gave the Colombian a hard fight in the third, Ghosal kept his cool to win the title 13-11.

It feels great.I was able to beat some great players along the way.The final was a high quality match.The second game was just as difficult as the first, as I was trailing 7-7.Ghosal, who was elated after the win, said that the victory was a reward for all the hardwork hed put in.It was Ghosal’s first PSA Tour title for three years.He won the PSA title at the 2018 Kolkata International Open.

Ghosal, 35 years old, made it to the final relatively unscathed.He won all three matches by a score of 3-0.Rodriguez, on the other hand, was close to losing against Japans Ryosei Kanazaki in the second round.He won 12-10 in the fifth.
