Mumbai, November 22, : , Sanjay Bangar, a former India cricketer has praised India’s bowlers after they put up an impressive performance against New Zealand during the T20I series.Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin team and Axar Patel, along with pacers Bhuvneshwar Kun and Harshal Paltel were cited as the key players in India’s bowling attack.India beat New Zealand 3-0 in T20Is.This was a great start for their preparations to the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
They have shown professionalism, although they were pushed a little by New Zealand’s openers.However, the Indian spinners responded well in the middle overs.”Ashwin Patel and Axar Ptel have both been excellent in tandem and it has worked very well for India in the middle overs as well as when they were chasing,” Bangar said on Star Sports’ Follow The Bules.
Bangar spoke further about Kumar’s recovery after being left out of the T20 World Cup opening game against Pakistan.
He also highlighted his dismissal from Daryl Mitchell at Jaipur in the T20I.
Bhuvneshwar is a great player and can’t be taken away from him.He’s always played with the new ball and has his swing back.It was an amazing feat to take the wicket of Daryl Mitchell in his first match.
This is a great win for India because Bhuvneshwar Kumar can deliver those first breakthroughs within the powerplay, which puts any opponent on the backfoot.
Bangar was the Indian batting coach from 2014 to 2019.
He applauded Patel for using variations in the back end of the innings.
Harshal Patel’s debut match, which was also his first match, was impressive.He’s a person who relies heavily on slow ball variations in matches with a lot dew.He overcame the challenge, bowled well using a wetball and continued to use his slow bouncers and cutters.This was also a huge plus for India.
He concluded his remarks by noting the consistently great show by Rohit Sharma (opener) and KL Rahul (co-opener) in this series.
I felt that the consistent performance of both openers has made a huge difference in Indian team’s performances so far in this series.
