Telangana HC orders magisterial probe into Mariyamma custodial death case

The Telangana High Court has ordered a judicial inquiry into the custodial death case of Mariyamma at Addagudur police station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

The High court orders police to re-postmortem the dead body of Mariyamma.

The court ordered the officials to submit the postmortem report on a sealed cover.The High Court questioned the Telangana police why they did not hold a trial with the Magistrate as per Civil Procedure Code 17A.The High Court has adjourned the hearing till June 28 and ordered the officials to submit a full report on Mariyammas re-postmortem.The custodial death of Mariyamma at Addagudur police station in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district is creating a stir across the state.

Petitioner Jandhyala explained to the High court that Mariyamma died due to police harassment while she was in custody.He sought an order for compensation of Rs.5 crores to the victims family.On the other hand, Telangana Congress leaders demanded to register cases under the SC and ST atrocity case and murder case against the police responsible for the death of Mariyamma in custody.

PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders have lodged a complaint with DGP Mahendra Reddy over the injustice.They demanded that the government should take strict action against the officials responsible for the incident.
