K’taka doctors protest indefinitely for Covid risk allowance

Bengaluru, Nov 29, : On Monday, Karnataka resident doctors & interns boycotted all services in Out Patient Department (OPD), and other services in all government hospitals across the state demanding immediate release and fulfillment of other demands.

The association also demanded that academic fees be restructured.The association claims that the Karnataka government has not released Covid Risk Allowance even six months after providing assurance.

This is why they are resorting indefinite strike.Over a year, medicos and health workers waged war against the Covid pandemic by offering their lives.

The government had promised Rs 10,000 monthly allowance for all resident doctors starting in April 2021, but has yet to release the fund, which amounts towards negligence towards frontline workers, according to the Association release.The academic fee has increased by 40% from Rs 30,000 to R 1,20,000.
