The Andhra Pradesh state government has decided to set up large-scale biogas production units for livestock manure and other agricultural waste.
The state government is going to treat this as a pilot project in the Chittoor district.
The Union government introduced the Gobar-Dhan scheme to promote biogas production from livestock and agricultural waste in rural areas as well as the production of organic fertilizers.As a part of this, the Union Water Energy Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat recently held a video conference with the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ministers of various states on the Gobar-Dhan scheme.
Minister Peddireddy Ramachandrareddy from our state, MD Sampath Kumar of Swachch Andra Corporation and ministers of 12 other states participated in the virtual meeting with the Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.Speaking on this occasion, Minister Peddireddy said that the Andhra Pradesh state government is planning to set up Gobar-Dhan plants in Krishna, Anantapur, Kurnool and Chittoor districts in the state.
In the respective districts, 54 Goshalas with at least 50 cattle and 55 large dairy farms have been identified for the production of biogas from manure.On this occasion, Minister Peddireddy said that the first pilot project will be implemented in the Chittoor district and later in the remaining three districts.
