Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Minister Balineni Srinivasareddy has said that the Jagan government is taking measures to increase the use of electric vehicles (e-vehicles) in the state.
He said that the state government was ready to give the necessary incentives to the people.
Recently, the minister launched the state governments Go-Electric campaign virtually in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to create awareness among the public about the use of electric vehicles and the charging stations required for them.He said 400 charging stations would be set up across the state in the first phase for these vehicles.
He said electric vehicles were an alternative to prevent pollution caused by diesel and petrol vehicles.Minister Balineni Srinivasreddy explained that the maintenance cost of e-vehicles is very low and charging stations are being set up on national highways at a rate of one for every 25 km.State Energy Department Secretary Srikanth Nagulapalli said the central government has set a target of using electric three-wheelers and electric two-wheelers in the country by 2023 and 2025, respectively.The event was attended by State Energy Conservation Corporation CEO A.Chandrasekhar Reddy and others.
